About 80 lakh metric tonnes of flowers are disposed in Ganga every year and when these generous offerings turn into colossal waste, it creates a problem that is detrimental to our environment.
ESSCENT by ARPAN aims to revolutionize this practice through the production of premium flower-based incense sticks and incense cones. The product is 100% Charcoal free, available in 9 fragrances and is hand-rolled by specially-abled people and rural women, hence giving them an increased source of income.
The product emits cleaner smoke as compared to the regular incense sticks, with each fragrance having its own benefits and bringing a more premium and soothing feel to our surroundings.
OUR STORY
We saw people visiting the holy ghats of Ganga to perform daily rituals. We were the only spectators to devotees taking a religious bath in the sacred waters of river Ganga to wash their sins off despite the evidently visible dirt floating on the same river water. We saw a truck, which was full of discarded flowers, stop by the ghats and in no time all the discarded flowers were disposed of in the river. It was at this time when we took the pledge to repurpose these flowers to conserve and protect the environment while creating a large-scale impact and securing the livelihoods of the marginalized communities. Today Arpan has increased its workers income by 150% while recycling over 500+ kg of flower waste.
